About the members / Oor die lede:

Jouba Jordaan

Founding member, songwriter, vocalist, guitar, ukulele, percussion, harmonica.
Jouba first saw a guitar being played live at the University of Stellenbosch where he studied a BSc winemaking degree. What a revelation! At the end of his first year he took a job at a ski-resort in Oregon, USA and saved enough money to buy himself a guitar. After he hung up his rugby togs at the end of his third year, he traded them in for some more cultural soles and started wandering in the unknown yet magical musical forest. What a journey it has been so far…

For a while Jouba sang under the windows of girls’ hostels with three friends in a group called 4 Oaks. After some time he and one of the members decided to follow their passion for music by starting Kaleidoskoop in Augustus 2006, releasing their first album called Bladwisselend in 2007. Kaleidoskoop had to bow the knee to study-loans being paid off by Jouba working as a winemaker in Australia in 2008.

What a journey it has been so far…

Anique Jordaan

Vocal, keyboard, piano accordion
At the age of 11 Anique traded her ballet-shoes for singing lessons. (Good thing – as a leotard is not required for singing.) In addition she also takes piano lessons for 11 years and passes the UNISA Gr.7 exam. After school she sings in the Stellenbosch University Choir with whom she attended the World Choir Games in Austria in 2008. While studying BSc Human Life Sciences se also takes on the role of “ser-leader” in her ressidence, Metanoia, who won the National competition in 2007. It is in this group where she first sang the Cranberries-cover “Zombie” that would later become a favourite of the Kaleidoskoop audiences. Anique got promoted from “fan” and guest artist for Kaleidoskoop in 2007 to band member in 2009. As soon as she finished her Honours degree in Physiology she has been following her dream and passion through Kaleidoskoop full time since 2010.

Stem, keyboard, trekklavier
